Presenter Instructions

Full Papers

These are the instructions for presenting full papers at CIKM 2011. All of the presentation rooms will be equipped with a projector and a microphone. Please endeavour to bring a laptop, or to use another available from other presenters in your session.

All presenters are asked to go to their session’s room 15 minutes before their oral session starts, and report to the session chair. Your paper will be allocated a 24 minute presentation slot (ideally 20 minutes presentation and 4 minutes questions). It is very important that presenters keep to their time-slots to avoid any cascading delays in the conference schedule.

For each paper, at least one author must attend the conference and present that paper. Otherwise the paper will be removed from the ACM Digital Library.

You can refer to the detailed programme to find out when exactly your session is on : http://www.cikm2011.org/schedule

Short Papers

These are the instructions for presenting short papers at CIKM 2011. All of the presentation rooms will be equipped with a projector and a microphone. Please endeavour to bring a laptop, or to use another available from other presenters in your session.

All presenters are asked to go to their session’s room 15 minutes before their oral session starts, and report to the session chair. Your paper will be allocated a 14 minute presentation slot (ideally 10 minutes presentation and 4 minutes questions). It is very important that presenters keep to their time-slots to avoid any cascading delays in the conference schedule. To aid in the fast changeovers between short paper presentations, please try to share a laptop with other presenters in your session.

For each paper, at least one author must attend the conference and present that paper. Otherwise the paper will be removed from the ACM Digital Library.

Posters

These are the instructions for presenting poster papers at CIKM 2011. Posters will be presented in dedicated poster session. You can refer to the detailed programme to find out when exactly your session is on. : http://www.cikm2011.org/schedule

For each paper, at least one author must attend the conference and present that paper. Otherwise the paper will be removed from the ACM Digital Library.

Posters should be 3ft x 4ft (International size A0) and will be displayed in portrait orientation.

Set up time for the posters will be in the afternoon break (1530-1600). This way the posters are all set up as people flow naturally from the coffee break into the poster session that starts shortly afterwards. Look for a piece of paper with your poster number (as in the programme booklet, not your Sheridan/Confmaster id), and set up there. Pins will be provided.

Demonstrations

These are the instructions for presenting demonstrations at CIKM 2011. For each paper, at least one author must attend the conference and present that paper. Otherwise the paper will be removed from the ACM Digital Library.

Each demonstration is allocated to one of the main conference days (i.e. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday). You should refer to http://www.cikm2011.org/schedule and click on the Demo Boasters (09:15-09:30) link for each of these days to see which day you have been allocated to.

Between 09:15 and 09:30 on the morning of your allocated day, you will make a short 1 minute `boaster' to advertise your demonstration to the conference audience and attract delegates to your demonstration running later that day. As soon as possible you should send Omar Alonso a 1 page PowerPoint presentation (PPT) or PDF document which will be displayed on the main projector while you make your boaster. Furthermore, you should send Omar a URL of your demonstration system well in advance. I need these no later than October 17th. You may use the 1 minute to highlight the main features of your demonstration system.

Demonstrations must run during both the first coffee breaks & lunch – i.e. 09:30-10:00 and 12:30-14:00. You will be supplied an 3ft x 4ft (International size A0) poster board (portrait orientation), a table, power supply, monitor and wireless internet connection for your demonstration. You should bring your own laptop to run the demo and an A0 poster to display on the poster board. Please arrive early in the morning on the day allocated to set up your demonstration before the conference starts (8:10 on Tuesday and 8:30 on Wednesday and Thursday). We remind international attendees to bring a UK-compatible power adapter for their laptop as their demonstration will be available throughout a large part of the day – we will inform you on the day when to pack up your demonstration.
